In a rainy night at the Luzhniki stadium in Russia the honours were even after extra time so it came down to penalties, Cristiano Ronaldo's miss handed Chelsea and John Terry the opportunity for a first UEFA Champions league win, who was better placed to take the winning kick? John Terry stepped up and missed as Chelsea went on to lose the game on penalties.

5. The Wayne Bridge Show


In 2010 John Terry fell out with his friend and teammate Wayne Bridge over an alleged affair with the latter's girlfriend, Bridge chose not to shake John Terry's hand the next time Man City and Chelsea met. That row temporarily cost JT the England captaincy as he was stripped of it by Fabio Capello.

4. Anton Ferdinand Abuse


A racial abuse row with QPR defender Anton Ferdinand in 2011 prompted the former West Ham Player to ignore a handshake from John Terry the next time they met. This abuse row led to the permanent stripping of John Terry as captain of the national side.

In 2012 John Terry finally led Chelsea to their first Champions league triumph, though he didn't feature in the game due to a red card picked up against Barcelona in the Semi finals John Terry was instrumental throughout the campaign.

John Terry has played 713 times for Chelsea, in 578 of those game he featured as the captain (more than any other Blues player), With Over 100 Champions league appearances JT is also one of Chelsea's three players with more than 700 games for the club and he is the highest scoring Premier League defender.
