Now That De Boer Has Been Sacked

The writing was on the wall for a long time for Crystal Palace's Dutch manager Frank De Boer. Five games in charge, four losses and one win was all it took for Crystal Palace to come to a sad conclusion for the former Inter Milan manager.

Chris Wood's third minute goal at Turf Moor was the final nail on the coffin as Club manager for the 47 year old.Steve Parish had seen enough. Palace now face the distasteful task of seeking a successor after less than 80 days of hiring the Dutch man. Emerging reports show that even before the International break De Boer was already living on borrowed time as the first three league games was only disappointing enough.

De Boer was highly tipped to take Palace to a desired destination with a football ideology that subscribes to 'total footballing', the pass masters of football have mostly come from Dutch origin and during his unveiling the manager stated that Palace deserved to be a solid club and not a relegation struggling team.

The appointment of this legend of European football with over 100 caps for his Country was a sharp deviation from the managers Palace have had in recent past. Tony Pulis, Alan Pardew and Sam Allardyce were not exactly fond of the passing game.

The signings of Jairo Riedewald, Diafra Sakho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Loan) and Timothy Fosu-Mensah (Loan) were not enough to make the difference in the first four league games for their new manager.

Roy Or Sam?

After  saving 'the eagles' from relegation last term almost heroically, it amazed the football world when Big Sam decided to take a walk and the club's reluctance in trying to or even pretending to want to keep the one-game England manager spoke volumes. Another former England manager Roy Hodgson is highly touted to become De Boer's Successor but at this point who's is better to run to? an off/on Premier League manager (Roy) or a seasoned relegation fighter (Sam). Allardyce's name has not come up in the list of possible replacements, but my point here is this. Whether Palace like it or not they're already in a relegation fight, Why?

  • The Are Yet To Play The 'Big Boys'
  • A New Manager Will Be Inheriting A Group Of Players He Did Not Sign
  • There's No Three Point Guarantee
It is only logical Steve Parish thinks about appointing a manager who is used to the club and can handle the fights and frights of relegation.
