Pep Guardiola And Ronald Koeman Return To Camp Nou But Don't Get The Desired Outcome

Everton manager Ronald Koeman and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola were among the legends of Barcelona who returned to the Camp Nou for an all star game to mark the 25th year Anniversary of their first European Cup Win at Wembley.

On that day in May 1992 Dutchman Ronald Koeman stole the headlines when he scored the only and of course the winning goal in a game against Sampdoria.  Andoni Zubizarreta and Hristo Stoichkov were also among the legends featuring in the memorial game and the Catalan team wore an orange strip to resemble the famous kits they wore at the twin towers.

The names on show and an emotional return to the Camp Nou by several legends in Barcelona folklore however was not enough to persuade the Barcelona faithful to turn out in their numbers as the Oldies were playing in an almost empty stadium.

Former director at Barcelona Toni Freixa was quick to slam the fans due to the thousands of empty seats.

"the dream team doesn't deserve this, look at it." Freixa said

"My complaint was essentially about the people. Believe me It's not normal that so few people go to see a team of legends. I'm absolutely right. We are in a perverse dynamic." He added.
