Tax Fraud Allegations Come For Jose

54 year old Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been hit with allegations that he failed to pay millions of taxes in Euros during his time (2010 - 2013) as Real Madrid manager according to World Football. The prosecutor's office released a statement on Tuesday.

The prosecutors claim that the Portuguese failed to declare €3.3m ($3.7, £2.9m) during his time with the Capital club - €1.6m in 2011 and €1.7m in 2012. Mourinho's representatives Gestifute media have moved quickly to defend him saying he had not been informed personally of the allegations.

According to Gestifute Mourinho " paid more than €26m in taxes at an average rate of 41% and accepted regularization proposals from the tax authorities in 2015 relating to the years 2011 and 2012, and resolved by agreement his situation for the year 2013".

According to the statement Jose received a certificate from the tax authorities confirming that he was up to date with his tax obligations.

This accusation comes in the wake of a €14.7m tax fraud being levelled against fellow Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo. The Real Madrid star is billed to appear before a Judge on the 31st of July for charges of fraud through offshore companies between 2011 and 2014.

Coincidentally both Jose and Cristiano share the same agent Jorge Mendes who has now been summoned to appear before a court outside Madrid on the 27th of June. It's been revealed that Mendes who is a super agent in the football world 'uses certain practices' to optimise often enormous earnings from image rights by his clients.

Ronaldo and Falcao Share The Same Agent

According to Media Consortium European Investigative Collaborations (EIC) at least €185m worth of income have escaped the attention of tax authorities using shell companies and offshore account.

Fabio Contreao and Radamel Falcao are other clients of Jorge Mendes who have also been suspected of tax evasions. Falcao has been accused of failing to declare €5.6m of income earned from image rights between 2012 and 2013 while he was at Atletico Madrid while Contreao is suspected to failingly declare €1.3m of income.
