Zaha Switches National Team Allegiance
Crystal Palace Forward Wilfred Zaha has sent a request to Football's governing body FIFA to swap his International allegiance from England to Ivory Coast.
Zaha was born in the Ivory Coast capital Abidjan but grew up in England, he already made two appearances for the three lions of England in the past but since they were in B games (non-competitive/friendly games) he is allowed to switch.
If the request is granted Zaha will be eligible to feature in next year's AFCON in Gabon.
Crystal Palace manager believes Zaha was influenced by his agent and people around him.
Zaha made 13 appearances at U-21 level but his first senior appearance for England aged 20 was in November 2012 when he came on as an 84th minute substitute in a 4-2 defeat away to Sweden, his second appearance came nine months later in a 3-2 victory over Scotland when he came on with 15 minutes to go.
