Gary Neville Questions Chelsea's Decision To Sell Matic, Calls It Strange

According to Evening Standard Ex Manchester United defender and captain Gary Neville has branded Chelsea's decision to sell Nemanja Matic as strange. The Serbian left Chelsea for the second timein his career and joined Manchester United in a deal of £40m which could rise to £45m.

Gary Neville congratulated his former club on the acquisition as he outlined the need for a holding midfielder, but the former England International questioned the Champions' decision to change a title winning duo of N'golo Kante and Nemanja Matic.

Neville explained to Sky Sports the need for a back-up for Michael Carrick who cannot play every week at his age, sighting the exits of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger as factors that  have prompted the Red Devils to go into the market for a midfielder.

The former Valencia manager however did not understand Chelsea's decision to let Matic go.

"It's strange for one to let him go because I thought he was good for them with Kante and I think they need to strengthen, So I'm not sure why he's been let go so they must have replacements in hand."

Of Course they do Gary, they've got Tiemoue Bakayoko.
