Advantage Sevilla But Only Just

Spanish team Sevilla were victors on the night at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, but when it looked as if it was over for the foxes Jamie Vardy breathed life into the tie with 17 minutes left to play when he tapped in Danny Drinkwater's cross.

The England International broke his recent goal drought of nine games without scoring with his first goal since December, his last goal came in the victory over Manchester City. Much of the credit however belonged to Leicester's keeper Kasper Schmeichel who saved a first half penalty from Joaquin Correa and kept his team in the game with fantastic saves.

Sevilla had over 70% possession and also hit the woodwork but would have to settle for a slender advantage to take to the King Power Stadium.

Before the game Claudio Ranieri Suggested a victory might be a 'turning point' in Leicester's dismal season and with a lot to still play for the foxes may yet get a morale boosting outcome from the tie, Leicester can dare to dream again for they won all three home games during the group stages and gave a fight in the second half against Sevilla after a disappointing first half.

Elsewhere in Spain there was good news for Sevilla as Real Madrid lost their second game of the season away to Valencia putting Sevilla up for a possible three horse race for the title.
