Barcelona Reach Copa Del Rey Finals Under Mysterious Circumstances
Atletico Madrid had a herculean task going into their second leg against Barca at the Nou Camp having lost 2-1 at home to the Catalan club in the first leg.
Diego Simeone assembled an attacking side for the rematch, and despite dominating the majority of the first period it was Barca who took the lead three minutes before halftime after an excellent display by Leo Messi.
In the 57th minute Atletico had a comeback within their grasp or so it seemed when Sergi Roberto was sent off for a second bookable offence.
It was in the 60th minute the major talking point of the match came when Antoine Griezmann 'mysteriously' had a clear goal disallowed by the match officials. There was still time for two more red cards for Yannick Carrasco and Luis Suarez, Kevin Gameiro missed from the spot and scored 3 minutes later in a 'mad game'.
The match ended 1-1 on the night and Barca went through on aggregate (3-2), but it was Griezmann's disallowed goal that everyone is looking back at.
