Fairly tales do not always have a happy ending, this was the message Leicester City FCs board reminded us of on Thursday as they sacked Claudio Ranieri barely nine months after winning the English Premier League. There aren't many teams who sack their title winning manager after nine months, maybe only teams in 'blue',
"The board reluctantly feels that a change in leadership, while admittedly painful, is necessary in the clubs greatest interest,"read a statement.
Ranieri's sack comes 24 hours after Leicester lost 2-1 to Sevilla in Spain, a game in which the scoreline was a huge positive, considering both their recent form and the prospect of having a psychological advantage with an away goal.
Earlier this month Leicester City gave their 'unwavering support' to the former Juventus manager who came to the King Power Stadium in July 2015.
Leicester City are just one point above the relegation zone and Ranieri's sack might have been a case of 'desperate times calling for desperate measures'.
