Ryan Giggs Backs Man City To Win Premier League.. .That's Weird
Ryan Giggs has admitted that Manchester City are the team to beat in the Premier League and has backed Pep Guardiola's men to lift the title next season. City are eyeing a serious challenge in Europe and domestically after a disappointing first season with Guardiola.
Manchester City have spent well over £200,000 on new signings since the transfer window opened on June 9. 2017 and Giggs believes the side have the opportunity to lift the title for the first time since 2014.
Giggs told Sky Sports "I think Manchester City are the team to beat though, I looked at them towards the end of last season and the forward players they've got is scary with Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Raheem Sterling.
"What they needed to do right was their defence and it will be interesting to see how Ederson settles in, because you don't win Premier League titles with an average goalkeeper." Giggs added.
Manchester City have had their defence line strengthened this summer with the additions of Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy but Giggs also thinks that Vincent Kompany's fitness will be key for they citizens if they intend to mount a title challenge.
Ryan Giggs' comments would not be pleasing to Jose Mourinho and a host of United fans who believe the Welshman should be 'on their side', after Mourinho's debut season at United and Guardiola's first taste of English football with City it is legit to expect the two men to go head-to-head for the Premier League title in the 2017/18 season.
