According to reports in Italy Chelsea have submitted an £88million bid for Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuaín. Antonio Conte's public declaration of Costa as not being part of his future plans have created all kinds of problems for the Blues and losing Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United has now put the English Champions in a desperate position.
Conte remains furious with the Chelsea Hierarchy due to their lukewarm approach to the transfer window, to pacify Conte the Chelsea board have approached Juventus to sign their star striker. The Italian champions have rejected an initial bid of €100m ( £88m) stating that the Argentine wouldn't be sold, Higuaín became the fourth most expensive player last when Juventus paid £75m to Napoli for his services.
The Stamford bridge club is also in pole position to sign Borrussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who will cost £65m, Andrea Belotti and Alvaro Morata are also in Conte's plans.
Chelsea's pre-season tour kicked off and there was no Diego Costa or Nemanja Matic in the list of the travelling party.
