Man Utd May Not Sign Morata Afterall And It's A 'Long Story'

A week ago Alvaro Morata actually told friends he was on the verge of Joining Manchester United, but in football so much happens in so little time. United are currently facing challenges in Morata's pursuit due the simple fact that Gianluigi Donnarumma has signed a contract extension at Milan.

European Champions Real Madrid had been in hunt for Milan's teenage keeper for a long period and the hunt intensified when Donnarumma turned down a new deal at the San Siro. With Milan's young goalkeeper currently signing a new contract, Real Madrid have now turned their attentions once again to De Gea who nearly joined them in 2015 before the deal fell through late on.

The Spanish Champions now want David De Gea  included in the deal that would take Morata to Old Trafford. The independent reports that Manchester United are not interested in any deal of that nature as Real Madrid would be put firmly in the driving seat during negotiations. Real Madrid themselves have refused to lower their asking price for Morata, despite making few starts for Zinedine Zidane's side in the 2016/17 season, the Spanish Champions have refused to lower their asking price of £72 million which would make Morata United's second highest signing behind Paul Pogba.

Should De Gea be included in the deal however, it is likely Morata's fee would drop significantly, but Jose Mourinho is rather in favour of holding on to De Gea as no.1 despite United being linked to Leicester City's Goalkeeper and Man City outcast Joe Hart. Reports suggest Manchester United are planning one final push for the Spaniard this week.

Meanwhile Mourinho has been furious at Ed Woodward for failing to bring in the players he asked for this summer, Nemanja Matic and Ivan Perisic being on the list the Portuguese submitted at the end of the season.
