AS Roma have also been reported to be interested in taking Martial on loan for the coming season, and the interest has prompted the Old Trafford club to set an asking price.
Manchester United want a fee of £30m and would not allow the player to leave on loan, therefore Roma would re-evaluate their options and return with a bid that meets the asking price.
Martial struggled for game time under Mourinho last season so the club understands his desire to leave ahead of a World Cup year. Romelu Lukaku's arrival at Old Trafford has increased the competition for places, £30m will see Manchester United record significant loss compared to the fee they paid for Martial in 2015 ( £58m).
Arsenal are contemplating the signing of Thomas Lemar and Anthony Martial as the new season nears. The Gunners already signed Alexandre Lacazette earlier this month, the bid for Martial could be on hold for the foreseeable future.
