List : Ten Top Players Who Became Free Agents At The End Of June

In European contracts most deals end in the month of June and when that happens any player out of contracts automatically becomes a free agent. This year there are quite some big names who are now out of contract, these ten are a pick from the bunch.

10. Pepe

Portuguese defensive general simply known as Pepe was recruited by the Los Blancos 10 years ago and went on to win the UEFA Champions league twice with them, Now 34 the former FC Porto player is out of contract with Real. PSG seems a likely destination for the seasoned defender.

9. Iker Casillas

A 36 year old World Cup winner with Spain, Casillas is the most decorated goalkeeper in recent football history, Casillas left his boyhood club Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 to sign for FC Porto on a two year deal with the possibility of an extension, the Spanish stopper is yet to renew his contract with the Portuguese club and is a free agent. A good buy he should be for mid-level clubs.

8. Bacary Sagna

Since the arrival of Pep Guardiola at City the clock has been ticking for not just Bacary Sagna but a host of other city players. An FA Cup winner with 10 years Premier League Experience, but at 34 may not be the first name in the team sheet of a top club like City but a number of mid-level Premier League teams can cash in on the free ranger.

7. Charlie Adam

Stoke City's Midfielder Adam will be out of is actually out of Contract at the Bet 365 Stadium, though just 31(but looks 'different'), Adam is yet to renew his contract with Stoke. The Scottish player made his big hit in the 2010/11 season with Blackpool.

6. Gael Clichy

At 31 French defender can still be a good fit at any top club, but the former Arsenal man doesn't fit into Pep's plan going forward. The wind of change blowing through The Etihad seems to have affected his stay in the Blue half of Manchester. There are lots of speculations but nothing concrete about Clichy's future. Clichy is one of 8 players who have won the English Premier League with more than one club.

5. Martin Caceres

Caceres joined Southampton in February as a Free agent after leaving Juventus in 2016, and managed just on appearance (against Middlesbrough). The former Juventus Player was released in May and is a free agent.

4. Gonzalo Rodriguez

Fiorentina's captain has been a leading light since joining from Villareal 5 years ago, the Argentine has over 200 appearances under his belt for Fiorentina but a new deal is yet to be agreed between club and player.

3. Vurnon Anita

Vurnon Anita has been a longsuffering servant of Tyneside club Newcastle United and made 27 appearances as the Geordies were promoted back to the English Premier League on their first attempt, it is anyone's guess why the Dutch defender is yet to be granted a new deal one month before the league kicks off.

2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

At 35 most strikers would have settled in to life in the US or some mid-level club, but Zlatan is not most strikers, the Swede helped United with 28 goals last season even in the twilight of his career. Ibrahimovic's contract with Manchester United ended yesterday and he has been linked with a move to LA Galaxy very recently after his clothing company opened in California.

1. Jesus Navas

Navas is the third Manchester City player on the list and all is set for the 2010 World Cup winner to leave The Citizens, the 31 year old moved to City after 10 years at Sevilla and helped City win the league in his first season in England, a string of improved and impressive perfomances suggested Navas would be retained at City but there is no contract on the table and none in sight. A move back to Sevilla is a possibility for the Spaniard. Navas will no doubt bring his talent and experience to any team he decides to join.
