Contenders For What?? City's Performance Against Stoke Came With A Lot Of Questions
Manchester City failed to cut Chelsea's gap at the top after playing out a barren draw at The Etihad on Wednesday evening, tried as did but A resolute Stoke handed Pep Guardiola his first 0-0 scoreline since taking over at the blue half of Manchester and for the first time this season the citizens failed to score at home.
A win for city would have re-ignited fading title hopes and they would have leapfrogged Tottenham who are currently second.
Guardiola had stated prior to the game that his side could not afford more slip ups with 11 games left for league leaders Chelsea to play, but in the main business of the day Guardiola's side were sluggish and lacked the necessary 'bite' to breakdown the potters.
Realistically speaking City are still challenging for three trophies, but with their performance and result in a 'winnable' game at home the fans might be left wondering the possibilities of a silverware coming to the Etihad this season.
Manchester City face Middlesbrough (FA Cup) on Saturday before travelling to France on Wednesday for their second leg tie against Monaco (with a 5-3 advantage), these games are also 'winnable' games and recall that Guardiola's side needed a second meeting to overcome Huddersfield in the FA Cup.
Continued slip ups are single grains that are going to fill the sack of failure in a season that was heralded as a new dawn for the blue mancunians.
