Five Games That Will Make You Look Forward To The International Break

The International break is a bore and not popular amongst football lovers who are used to the week-to-week runnings of their favourite clubs in their different pusuits, simply put we all prefer club football, even the players do, but here are some games that will spice up the break for you.

1. Argentina v Chile

Argentina host Chile in the wee hours of Friday (00:30) Nigerian time in a repeat of the 2015 and 2016 Copa America meetings where Lionel Messi and Argentina endured heartbreaks in both encounters. Chile is on 5th place in the CONMEBOL qualifying table, one place and one point above the albiceleste, no doubt this would be an exciting encounter.

2. Germany v England

Germany host their old foe England at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund today at 20:45 Nigerian time. The two teams met last last year and the English ran out 3-2 winners. England has won three of the last five meetings between these two teams and there has never been a draw in the meeting in the last five.

3. UAE v Japan

UAE host Japan in the group B encounter of the AFC's World Cup qualifier, no one has ever seen UAE in a World Cup game, the Arabic nation are on 4th place in a group of six but are just one point behind first placed Saudi Arabia. The neutrals will be rooting for UAE to win this one.

4. Uruguay v Brazil

Brazil will play Uruguay and kick off is at midnight on Friday (00:00) Nigerian time, Brazil have lost just twice to Uruguay since 1950 and the spoils were shared when they met last on the 16th of March 2016.Brazil is first and Uruguay second on the CONMEBOL log and the stars on both sides will be relishing the encounter.

5. Ireland v Wales

This a derby of some sort and there are exciting talents on both sides and the Euro 2016 semifinalists are armed with Gareth Bale who returned from injury just in time. Ireland have a better head-to-head record but the Welsh team have seen 'new' players change their perception on the world stage. This should be an exciting encounter.
