5 Reasons Why The EPL May Go Down To The Wire

The English Premier League Is One Hell Of An Exciting League, Very Rarely Is The Title Push A One Horse Race. The Runaway Leaders Chelsea Seem To Be Home And Dry, But There Some Reasons They Aren't There Just Yet.

1. The Consistency Of The Chasing Pack

In the past six weeks all teams in the top six have put in a good run. There has been losses here and there, and some draws but we have not seen consecutive defeats. This is a message Antonio Conte must have received and processed. The message is simple, there is no room for error.

2. Tottenham Have Found Their Rhythm

After their inexplicable collapse in the title race last season Spurs went from title hopefuls to finishing third, behind eternal rivals Arsenal, they are now a year older and wiser going into the final 17 games of the campaign. Mauricio Pochettino must have known his players and their responses. An edge over newcomer Conte.

3. Diego Costa Is Unpredictable

When Conte took charge at Stamford Bridge in the summer one of his first tasks was to convince Diego Costa to remain with Chelsea and it worked, It worked because he scored a lot of goals but on the 1st of October in the game against Hull City there was clear disagreement between the Brazilian born striker and his manager, seven days ago out of the blues was a bust up which led to Costa being dropped. There isn't any team challenging for the title that needs emotional distraction, especially from their top goal scorer.

4. The Premier League Is Unforgiving

There are many teams in the English Premier League and any team no matter your form or history can easily drop points for the slightest form of complacency. There are 17 games left and those games are going to be played over a period of four months and it is hard to say there is already a clear winner OR favourite

5. Squeaky Bum Time And The Abramoviç Factor
The final moments of the EPL is packed with a lot of drama just as we've seen season after season. The league leaders are not in Europe and are out of the EFL Cup, but that could count in their favour for now, if they exit the FA Cup and hold a slender lead at the top by April, as soon as it may sound Antonio Conte might have to win the title to save his job, and that means immense pressure.
