Wayne Rooney Has Shut Up Critics - Carrick
Manchester United midfielder has hailed teammate Wayne Rooney for the feat he achieved over the weekend, becoming United's all time top scorer.
Rooney who has been severely criticised for his poor form this season came off the bench to salvage a point for his team and Michael Carrick feels his England compatriot has gotten one over his critics.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Carrick reiterated that it is such a big achievement considering the the spotlight and scrutiny one is under.
"To play at the level he has done for so long, since he was 16/17 years old when he burst on the scene, not just for club but for his country as well, you can't underestimate how tough it is to play so many games and have that scrutiny in the spotlight on you constantly", Carrick said as quoted by Express Sport.
"How he has dealt with that and how he has answered back and how he has shut people up over the years when they have questioned him, and he's still going strong today."
