6 Points From Safety, What's Next For Leicester City
The Defending Champions Leicester City Burst On To The Scene With Tactical Discipline And Won All Our Hearts As They Lost Just 3 Games Out Of 38 But At This Stage In An Indifferent Campaign, What Is The Next Move For The Champions.
For Leicester City 2016 was a reminder of how quickly things could change in football, from surprising champions of England to relegation scare in the same year. Here are what the Foxes might be looking to do this business end of the season.
1. Concentrate On Europe And Do The Spectacular
Leicester City did the unthinkable in May 2016 when they beat the odds of 5,000 to 1 to become English Champions, with the prospect of defending that title way out of sight and might just be a mere daydream now, The champions may want to repeat what they did in England on the European scene and they might need all their tact, they have already shown their hunger in Europe in the group stages of the Champions League where they were through to the next round with a game to spare. Relegation fight in the premier league could be tasking so Leicester may want to go for more glory in Europe.
2. Consolidate On The Positives And Remain In The Premier League
It hasn't been all doom and gloom for the foxes, most of their losses in the league have come on weekends preceding a European game and what's more? they still have good players like Jamie Vardy, Islam Slimani, Ahmed Musa, Riyadh Mahrez etc to get them goals. The victory over Manchester City has been the highlight of their season so far, well one of the highlights. The English league is an unforgiving league that doesn't entertain indecision so the foxes may have to park the bus and strive to remain in the league.
3. The Talk Of Europe
Leicester City sit 15th on the log and 15 points from the top 6 with 18 games to go so there is still a possibility, albeit slim to make the Europe and they are in the 5th round of the FA cup where the winner qualifies for the Europa league. They have a choice of chasing Europe via these two fronts and remain a relevant force on the continent.
