AFCON 2017: Champions Ivory Coast Crash Out
Rachid Alioui Scored The Only Goal Of The Game with a powerful shot As Morocco Beat Ivory Coast To Knock The Champions Out.
Ivory Coast gave a poor showing in a must win game for them , Wilfred Zaha and Salomon Kalou had the best chances for the Elephants but they failed to convert, the Moroccans were resolute in their style and were hardly perturbed by the Champions.
It was the North Africans who almost added a second but young full back saw his shot go wide.
Morocco was led by Herve Renard who led Ivory Coast to continental glory two years ago, the 48 year old will be hoping to be the first manager to lift the trophy with three different teams after previously leading underdogs Zambia to glory in 2012.
Elsewhere DR Congo thrashed Togo 3-1 to finish Group C as winners with 7 points, DR Congo's Junior Kabananga fired in the opener in the 29th minute with his third goal of the competition.
It didn't seem to be Togo's day when their keeper was forced out through injury and Emmanuel Adebayor shot a chance for an equaliser straight at the keeper.
DR Congo will play Group D runners up while Morocco will face Group D winners. The group stage action ends today with the last group, group D in action, Egypt v Ghana and Uganda v Mali 19:00 CAT
